The therapeutic value of music have been recognised and employed from a very early stage in the history of mankind and medicine.

Types of Music Therapy

There are 2 types of Music therapy-Active and Passive.

The active form of therapy is good to enhance speech, improve concentration level in children, to control hyperactive kids etc, where as Passive form is beneficial in almost all kinds of ailments.icIndian classical ragas, have been found to have healing effects.The basic 7 swaras of the musical octave have correspondence with the chakras. The lowermost chakra, Mooladhara is associated with the swara,“Sa”, which means that chanting this particular note will have an impact on awakening or activation of this chakra.All ragas donot have the same effect on the every human being, it depends on the emotional setup of the individual.So the correct selection of the raga is very important.

Research has shown that music has a profound effect on your body and psyche, it refreshes our mind and soul thereby releasing us from stress. Music has also been found to bring many other benefits, such as lowering blood pressure (which can also reduce the risk of stroke and other health problems over time), boost immunity, ease muscle tension, stabilise heart rate, relieve depression, reduce pre-treatment anxiety, help manage pain, reduce nausea after chemotherapy, also improves stability of people with Parkinson’s disease. With so many benefits and such profound physical effects, it’s no surprise that so many are seeing music as an important tool to help the body in staying (or becoming) healthy. One obvious use of music is that of a sedative. It can replace the administration of tranquillizers , or at least reduce the dosage of tranquillizers
